Free Website Check
VCS Websites are dismayed by how many Parish Councils have been "sold a pup". They have been told their new website meets the regulations when, quite clearly to experts like ourselves, this is not the case. The reason for this shortcoming is either the web supplier has not even read up on the regulations, or they don't have the ability to meet the requirements (it is not easy). We have come across both scenarios.
We are offering a Free Website Check to see if your Council's website is compliant. This is not a full report but checks a handful of basic items which will be very telling.
If your website passes the checks, then well done. If, however, you are surprised and disappointed by our findings about your current website, there are two options:
- We can advise where you fall short by way of a paid report with recommendations.
- We will quote you for a new website that meets all the requirements and is very likely to make your life easier running a website, as our system is purpose built for councils.
Don't forget the grace periods have now passed and you are open to investigation by Government Digital Service and could fall foul of the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
"Organisations that do not meet the accessibility requirement or fail to provide a satisfactory response to a request to produce information in an accessible format, will be failing to make reasonable adjustments. This means they will be in breach of the Equality Act 2010 and the Disability Discrimination Act 1995. The EHRC and ECNI can therefore use their legal powers against offending organisations, including investigations, unlawful act notices and court action."
